Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation

Our mission is to grant wishes, including memory-making events, for metastatic breast cancer patients, while continuing to support, educate and increase resource awareness.

We at Making Memories are dedicated to providing a spark of joy into the lives of women and men who are losing their battle against breast cancer. The tragedy of this illness is not merely the physical and emotional burden, but also the enormous financial strain it places on a family.  When insurance benefits are exhausted and mounting medical expenses deplete bank accounts, there is often little or no money left for special memory-making moments, set apart from the everyday sadness and turmoil of "saying goodbye."

It is the driving force of our Foundation to make a wish come true for these brave fighters. The wishes and memory-making events we bestow, allows the individual and their family the opportunity to put aside the realities of this illness, if only for a time, while basking in the joy of one another's presence.  Our sincere desire is for every terminally ill breast cancer patient to pass from this world, comforted in the knowledge of having left one final beautiful memory for his or her family.

Startling Breast Cancer Facts

The heartrending cost in human life is staggering. In America alone, one person receives a diagnosis of breast cancer every 2 1/2 minutes, while every 12 minutes someone loses his or her battle against this disease.  Breast cancer is no respecter of age or gender, estimates show that more than 200,000 women and 1,700 men will develop breast cancer this year. Although breast cancer is the number two cancer killer of older women, it is the number one cancer killer of women between the ages of 15 and 54, leaving thousands of young children without their mothers and young husbands to cope alone.

Tributes and Memorials

Effective September 23, 2011

Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation is suspending the acceptance of applications for our wish program.  Over the last year we have been receiving an increasing amount of requests, many of them asking for funds to assist clients with everyday living expenses. The board of MM is reviewing the structure of our wish program and how best to use the resources of MM to assist those coping with stage 4 breast cancer. We will keep you updated on any decisions regarding the wish program.  Please contact us at 503.491.8091 with any questions.”
